1. Flow Like Water
Traffic in Bali doesn't stop; it flows. Don't expect strict adherence to lanes. If there's a gap, someone will fill it. The key is to be predictable and move with the flow rather than trying to force your right of way.
2. The "Beep" Etiquette
In many Western countries, honking is aggressive. In Bali, a short "beep-beep" is a polite signal saying, "I am passing you" or "I am here." Use it when overtaking trucks or coming around blind corners.
3. Look Ahead, Not Down
Potholes, dogs, ceremonies, and parked cars can appear suddenly. Keep your eyes up and scanning the road 50 meters ahead, not just at your front tire.
4. Give Way to Ceremonies
Religious processions often block roads. This is part of the magic of Bali! Be patient, turn off your engine if stopped for a while, and enjoy the sights. Never try to cut through a procession.
5. Helmets are Non-Negotiable
No matter how short the ride, always wear a helmet. It's the law, and more importantly, it saves lives. At Bali Buldog Rental, all our bikes come with clean, SNI-standard helmets.
